As a person who has lived on one coast or another my entire life, nothing has been more satisfying to me as a photographer than capturing the interaction of the patterns of water with the patterns of life that the water supports.  I live in California now, and its coast has an amazing variety of environments, which support an amazing variety of growth.  Unfortunately, I have also personally seen the early effects of climate change.  Even the small increase in sea level that has already occurred has destroyed beaches and altered environments, leaving formerly beautiful places barren.  The images below are meaningful to me not only as art, but as records of what existed here before climate change became catastrophic.
